Project Overview
Schuff Steel played a critical role in the project, providing fabrication and erection of 940 tons of structural steel. The scope of work included Buckling-Restrained Braces (BRBs), Architecturally Exposed Structural Steel (AESS), decking, stairs, and a comprehensive miscellaneous work package. The dynamic facade, featuring automated wood shades, reduces solar heat gain and adjusts throughout the day to optimize occupant comfort, while a photovoltaic (PV) system powers the building and supplies surplus energy to the grid, emphasizing its net-positive energy goals.
A key challenge of the project was achieving precise multi-trade coordination, especially during erection sequencing, to seamlessly integrate the structural steel components with the mass timber and other trades. Schuff Steel’s expertise ensured that all elements aligned to meet the demanding schedule and rigorous quality standards of this innovative facility.
This project highlights the intersection of sustainability, design, and technical precision, contributing to the evolving architectural landscape of Sunnyvale and setting a new benchmark for environmentally conscious office buildings.
