ASU Polytechnic Campus
In 2008 Arizona State University underwent a 240,000 square foot expansion project to create the Polytechnic Academic Complex located in Mesa, Arizona. The $103 million dollar project included three new buildings to accommodate student housing, classroom space and administrative offices.
The project was designed as an open-air building environment with sustainable features that earned the structure LEED Gold certification. Green elements of the build included perforated metal screens to shade the buildings, dual-pane low-E exterior glass for natural daylight and a roof lined with a bright white EPDM membrane to reflect sunlight away from the building.
